Keven Jordan (rock, pop)
North-African born Keven Jordan moved to Canada from Egypt at the age of 11. At age 20 he moved to Toronto and took small acting rolls in TV commercials while he taught himself how to play guitar. Jordan slogged it out around Toronto coffee houses and clubs as a singer-songwriter before hitting pay dirt as the first Canadian act signed to the re-structured Sony Music in 1990. His debut album, ‘No Sign Of Rain’, boasted heavy assists from guitarists Danny McBride (Chris DeBurgh) and Martin Walsh (Supertramp), drummer Steve Kendry (Dalbello, Spoons), and guitarist Peter Cardinelli (Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot, Boomers). Through several heavily rotated singles/videos, including the title track Jordan won a 1991 JUNO Award for ‘Most Promising Male Vocalist’. - Jaimie Vernon, The Canadian Pop Music Encyclopedia
